‘We’re screwed!’ Trump goes into full-blown panic as Supreme Court decision looms

President Donald Trump erupted on social media Monday in a panicked rant over the impending Supreme Court decision on his tariffs, which, based on initial arguments, may end up being ruled unlawful.

“The actual numbers that we would have to pay back if, for any reason, the Supreme Court were to rule against the United States of America on Tariffs, would be many Hundreds of Billions of Dollars,” Trump wrote on his social media platform Truth Social.

“When Investments are added, we are talking about Trillions of Dollars! It would be a complete mess, and almost impossible for our Country to pay. Anybody who says that it can be quickly and easily done would be making a false, inaccurate, or totally misunderstood answer to this very large and complex question.”

For months, Trump has grown increasingly panicked that the Supreme Court may rule against his tariff policy, warning that the United States “could be reduced to almost Third World status” should the court rule against him.

The Trump administration has argued the tariffs to be lawful based on its reading of the International Emergency Economic Powers Act, a 1977 law that permits the president to impose tariffs in response to emergencies. That emergency, his administration has claimed, is the United States’ trade deficits with other countries.

But skeptics, which as of last November included a majority of Supreme Court justices, have questioned the validity of the Trump administration’s case for the tariffs.

“It may not be possible [to pay back the tariff revenue] but, if it were, it would be Dollars that would be so large that it would take many years to figure out what number we are talking about and even, who, when, and where, to pay,” Trump continued.

“Remember, when America shines brightly, the World shines brightly. In other words, if the Supreme Court rules against the United States of America on this National Security bonanza, WE’RE SCREWED!”
