Trump Warns of 'Day of Reckoning' in Minnesota After State Sues Department of Homeland Security Over Immigration Raids
Donald Trump is seemingly threatening Minnesota as state legislators fights back against ongoing immigration raids in Minneapolis.
On Tuesday (January 13), the president, 79, took to his social media platform, Truth Social, to warn of a “day of reckoning & retribution” in the city.
His move comes after American citizen Renee Good was fatally shot by an Immigration and Customs Enforcement agent on Wednesday (January 7) and after Minnesota’s Attorney General Keith Ellison announced a lawsuit against Trump‘s Department of Homeland Security, ICE and U.S. Customs and Border Protection.

“Do the people of Minnesota really want to live in a community in which there are thousands of already convicted murderers, drug dealers and addicts, rapists, violent released and escaped prisoners, dangerous people from foreign mental institutions and insane asylums, and other deadly criminals too dangerous to even mention,” the president wrote in his heated social media post.
Continuing, he wrote, “All the patriots of ICE want to do is remove them from your neighborhood and send them back to the prisons and mental institutions from where they came, most in foreign Countries who illegally entered the USA though Sleepy Joe Biden’s HORRIBLE Open Border’s Policy.”
“Every place we go, crime comes down. In Chicago, despite a weak and incompetent Governor and Mayor fighting us all the way, a big improvement was made,” Trump claimed. “Thousands of Criminals were removed!”
He accused Minnesota’s Democrats of loving “the unrest that anarchists and professional agitators are causing because it gets the spotlight off of the 19 Billion Dollars that was stolen by really bad and deranged people.”
“FEAR NOT, GREAT PEOPLE OF MINNESOTA, THE DAY OF RECKONING & RETRIBUTION IS COMING!” the world leader concluded in all caps.
Per NBC News, Ellison accused the DHS of executing a “federal invasion of the Twin Cities” during a press conference on Monday (January 12).
“We allege that the obvious targeting of Minnesota for our diversity, for our democracy and our differences of opinion with the federal government is a violation of the Constitution and of federal law,” he said.
DHS spokesperson Tricia McLaughlin said that the threatened lawsuit is “prioritizing politics over public safety” in a statement shared with NBC.
“President Trump’s job is to protect the American people and enforce the law — no matter who your mayor, governor, or state attorney general is,” she added.
