Keir Starmer Seems To Be Boycotting 'Disgusting' X Amid Sexual Images Row
Keir Starmer appears to be boycotting X amid the row over the platform allowing users to generate sexualised images of women and children.
The prime minister has condemned the “disgusting and shameful” service provided by the AI bot Grok.
Starmer – who used to post on X on an almost daily basis – has now not done so since January 8.
He has continued to use other social media platforms, like TikTok and Instagram.
His spokesman repeatedly refused to deny on Monday that the PM was staying off X as the controversy continues.
In response to a furious backlash last week, X announced that Grok’s “nudification” tool would only be available to those who pay to subscribe to the app.
Addressing Labour MPs and peers in parliament on Monday night, Starmer said: “The actions of Grok and X are absolutely disgusting and shameful.
“Protecting their abusive users, rather than the women and children who are being abused, shows a total distortion of priorities.
“So let me be crystal clear, we won’t stand for it, because no matter how unstable or complex the world becomes, this government will be guided by its values. We’ll stand up for the vulnerable against the powerful.
“If X cannot control Grok, we will – and we’ll do it fast because if you profit from harm and abuse, you lose the right to self regulate.”
Starmer’s last X post was about the government’s decision to lift the two-child benefit cap.

Asked if Starmer had made a conscious decision not to use the app, the his official spokesman said: “The prime minister uses a variety of different channels to speak to people across the UK and engage with the public. We will continue to do that, he will continue to do that.
“His priority here is to focus on ensuring that this platform follows the law.
“That is what we should be concentrating on, talking about criminal imagery of children as young as 11, reports of photos being shared of women in bikinis, tied up in gags with bruises and covered in blood.
“That’s not acceptable and that is where the full focus of government is.”
