Myer closing Sass & Bide – with a relaunch on its way
Myer has confirmed it will close its womenswear label Sass & Bide, which has been under its control since 2011.
The brand has three stores and 14 concessions with the retailer, all of which will be closed by the end of January. A spokesperson for Myer Group told Inside Retail it plans to “reimagine” Sass & Bide.
“We believe there’s a unique opportunity to reinvent Sass & Bide by drawing on its substantial heritage while being inspirational and relevant for a new generation of customers,” the spokesperson added.
“It played an important role in the Australian fashion landscape, and we know it can do that again, given the affection and following Sass & Bide maintains.
“Work has begun to determine how we will reimagine Sass & Bide, and we look forward to sharing plans for the brand’s relaunch in the coming months.”
The move comes as Myer plans to introduce 20 new brands into its portfolio by the end of July, including Topshop.
Myer said: “We have spent considerable time listening to our customers, hearing from them about the brands they like and those they don’t. This feedback is helping shape our strategy to provide customers with a more elevated product offering across our apparel range.
“The launches are just the start, with a strong pipeline of new and renowned brands set to join Myer throughout the year.
“Each new addition has been carefully selected to complement our existing portfolio and to meet the growing demand for contemporary, high‑quality, and trend‑driven fashion.”
