Mike Flanagan's 'The Exorcist' Starring Scarlett Johansson Dated for 2027
Mike Flanagan‘s take on The Exorcist has a release date!
It’s still more than a year away, but Variety reports that the film will come out on March 12, 2027. At one point, Universal had plans to release it in March 2026, but a delayed production has made that impossible.

The film stars Scarlett Johansson and Jacobi Jupe, best known for the acclaimed film Hamnet. Mike himself will be writing, directing, and producing. He’s best known for projects like The Haunting of Hill House, Midnight Mass, Doctor Sleep, and The Fall of the House of Usher.
His version of The Exorcist is meant to be a “radical new take” on the iconic property started by William Peter Blatty‘s novel of the same name, which adapted into the 1973 horror classic starring Linda Blair and Ellen Burstyn.
Mike is also working on a new Carrie series for Amazon that is expected to come out in 2026.
Another big horror movie also just received a 2027 release date.
