Horror – Alleged Carjacking Suspect Accused of Shooting Woman in the Face, Throws One-Year-Old to the Ground Appears in Court Facing Multiple Charges
Ronald Loftis, an alleged carjacker, appeared in court this past Monday to face charges of attempted murder, felonious assault, and aggravated robbery, among other charges.
Loftis, who was recently released from prison, is accused of stealing a Cleveland woman’s car in front of her home. He allegedly shot her in the face in the presence of her one-year-old son, who he threw to the ground before stealing the car on January 2nd.
Tiffanie Muscatello was transported to the hospital and was treated for a gunshot wound to her mouth and face.
CLEVELAND — The man charged with shooting a Cleveland mother in the face in front of her 1-year-old son and then stealing the woman’s car had been released from prison weeks earlier, according to state records.
Ronald Loftis appeared in court Monday, accused of attempted murder, aggravated robbery, felonious assault and other charges for the Jan. 2 shooting that wounded Tiffanie Muscatello outside her home near Madison and West 79th Street in Cleveland.
“The guy came out of nowhere and just held her at gunpoint, told her to get on the ground,” said the victim’s daughter, Jovanna Mucatello. “She got on the ground, and he said if you don’t have money, he’s going to kill her.”
Her daughter Jovanna explained that her mother had numerous stitches and lost two teeth, with more that were cracked from the gunshot.
Fortunately, her one-year-old son was not hurt during the assault.
Loftis, who is 47, was taken into custody one day after the shooting.
Loftis has a long criminal history going back to 1998. It included numerous prison stints.
He was recently released from prison in early December after serving less than four years on numerous charges, including burglary, felonious assault, and weapons charges.
Prison records show he was on supervised release when he shot Tiffanie Muscatello.
His bond is set at $500,000, and he is due back in court on January 26th.
