The Union Cabinet has approved the continuation of the Atal Pension Yojana (APY) till FY 2030–31, ensuring long-term old-age income security for unorganized sector workers. Launched in 2015, APY guarantees a monthly pension of ₹1,000–₹5,000 starting at age 60. With crores enrolled, the scheme is a cornerstone of India’s social security framework. The extension includes continued government funding for awareness drives and gap funding to ensure sustainability and wider outreach.
