Torino’s move for a Tottenham youngster appears to be edging closer as the winter window enters its final stretch, with developments emerging around a potential academy departure.
Tottenham Hotspur are only a few days away from the winter transfer window slamming shut, and Spurs have been busy strengthening their squad.
The club has already completed the signing of Conor Gallagher early in the window, before Souza arrived as another addition a few days ago.
Andy Robertson has also been linked with a move to Spurs, with the deal said to be advancing quickly as the window nears its end.
Tottenham academy star Callum Olusesi attracts Torino interest
A fresh report from journalist Gianluca Di Marzio now states that Spurs are looking to complete a deal involving one of their young academy stars.
It is understood that Torino are trying to sign Callum Olusesi this winter, with talks over a loan deal that includes an option to buy currently being negotiated.
It is believed that a deal could be reached in the next few days, as Torino sporting director Gianluca Petrachi works to close the agreement with Tottenham.
Olusesi, 18, made his senior debut for Spurs last season in the Europa League but has not featured at all under Thomas Frank, leaving this as a potential opportunity for the teenager to gain much-needed experience.
Spurs face questions over academy pathway
With an option to buy reported as a possible inclusion in the deal, it is rather disappointing to see that Tottenham appear open to losing a youngster.
This is far from ideal, especially after reports that Tottenham are looking for ways to get the academy fully up and running to allow an influx of graduates into the first team.
Perhaps the young midfielder is not viewed as being at the required level, but it remains to be seen whether an option to buy will even be included in the final agreement.
