UAE Reaffirms Neutrality, Bars Use of Its Territory for Military Action Against Iran
The United Arab Emirates has stated it will not allow its airspace, territory, or waters to be used for hostile military operations against Iran.
The UAE Ministry of Foreign Affairs said on Monday, January 26, that the country remains committed to neutrality and regional stability, rejecting any use of its territory for aggressive acts toward Iran.
The announcement comes amid continuing uncertainty over potential military action against Iran following U.S. President Donald Trump’s statement last week about a “large fleet” heading toward the country.
Trump’s warnings were issued in response to Iran’s domestic unrest, including the deaths of thousands of protesters, and the resumption of Iran’s nuclear program, raising tensions further.
Regional analysts note that the Persian Gulf has long been a strategic corridor for trade and energy, and any conflict could have wide-reaching economic and security repercussions.
Historically, the UAE has positioned itself as a mediator in regional disputes, often emphasizing diplomacy over military involvement to protect its strategic and economic interests.
