30,000 Afghan Pilgrims to Perform Hajj in Saudi Arabia This Year
According to the reports, 30,000 citizens will travel to Saudi Arabia this year for Hajj, with total costs exceeding seven billion Afghanis.
The Taliban’s Ministry of Guidance, Hajj, and Religious Endowments announced that 30,000 Afghans are scheduled to travel to Saudi Arabia for Hajj this year.
Taliban Minister Noor Mohammad Saqib said on Saturday, January 31, that Saudi Arabia has allocated Afghanistan a quota of 30,000 pilgrims.
The minister added that the cost for each pilgrim is set at 266,400 Afghanis, totaling over 7.818 billion Afghanis for the entire delegation.
Around 30,000 Afghans also traveled recently to Saudi Arabia for Hajj, indicating continuity in the country’s participation in the annual pilgrimage.
He emphasized the ministry’s preparations to ensure smooth travel, accommodation, and religious services for all Afghan pilgrims this year.
Hajj is one of the five pillars of Islam and annually attracts millions of Muslims worldwide to Mecca, Saudi Arabia, for religious rites.
Afghanistan’s participation in Hajj has historically been coordinated with the Saudi government, with quotas set based on population and diplomatic agreements.
