Mummies are rising at the California Science Center
The mummies are rising and they’re ready for the spotlight at the California Science Center.
On Saturday, Feb. 7 the Los Angeles venue is welcoming back the traveling exhibition titled “Mummies of the World: The Exhibition.”
The exhibit will explore more than 30 naturally and intentionally preserved human and animal mummies from South America, Europe, and ancient Egypt including specimens never-before-seen in Los Angeles, according to a news release.
People will get to see real mummies from across the globe and learn about the science of natural mummification from glaciers and deserts plus intentionally preserved specimens from underground European crypts, animals and people in cultures ranging from ancient Egypt and Peru to modern day medical studies.
Visitors can expect to see CT scans of full-body mummies, burial objects, mummification tools and take part in interactive audio-visual programs. The Science Center marks the final stop for the internationally touring exhibition, which runs through Sept. 7.
