Mamdani’s Mother Mira Nair Named in Epstein Files; Viral Images Debunked as Fake
Newly released documents linked to Jeffrey Epstein show that filmmaker Mira Nair, mother of New York Mayor Zohran Mamdani, attended a 2009 afterparty hosted by Ghislaine Maxwell, according to records included in the latest disclosure.
According to Newsweek, Nair’s name appeared in a publicist’s email referencing attendance at the event following the premiere of the film Amelia, and the documents do not allege wrongdoing by those mentioned.
The records are part of millions of pages released under the Epstein Files Transparency Act, revealing the wide network of political, business, and entertainment figures socially or professionally connected to Epstein and Maxwell.
An email cited in the files mentions several prominent attendees, including former President Bill Clinton, Jeff Bezos and director Mira Nair, but only documents participation in a social gathering without alleging misconduct.
At the same time, widely circulated images on social media claiming to show Mamdani and his mother with Epstein and Maxwell were confirmed to be AI-generated, according to reporting by the Associated Press.
The images originated from a parody social media account and contain digital watermarks identifying them as AI-generated. Fact-checkers noted timeline inconsistencies, including Mamdani appearing as a child in scenes dated to 2009, when he was already an adult.
Jeffrey Epstein died in jail in 2019 while awaiting trial on federal sex trafficking charges, while Ghislaine Maxwell is currently serving a 20-year prison sentence following her conviction.
U.S. authorities have released millions of documents and media files related to the Epstein case to increase transparency, although debates continue over whether additional files remain undisclosed.
The latest disclosures have renewed scrutiny over Epstein’s past associations, while officials emphasize that many individuals appear in records due to social or professional contact rather than criminal involvement.
