Three men shot, two fatally outside Near West Side White Castle
Police were looking for three gunmen who opened fire into a SUV at a Near West Side White Castle, leaving two men dead and a third injured.
About 1:20 p.m. at 2356 W. Roosevelt Rd., three male victims were inside a vehicle when they were approached by three gunmen, who fired shots into the vehicle, according to police.
During the shooting, the vehicle caught fire leaving a 35-year-old man and a 48-year-old man dead. A 44-year-old man was in good condition at Stroger Hospital, police said.
A woman who answered the phone at the establishment hung up on a reporter.
The assailants fled the scene and were not in custody.
According to a CTA alert, the #12 Roosevelt buses were temporarily rerouted in both directions due to police activity near Roosevelt/Western. Westbound buses will operate via Roosevelt, Damen, Taylor, Western, then resume their normal route on Roosevelt, according to the alert.
