McDonald's Free Caviar Kits Gone in 3 Minutes—Now Selling for Big Bucks on eBay
For over 85 years, McDonald’s has been hailed as one of the most recognizable fast food chains in the world. The golden arches have stood the test of time, with some classic menu items that are instantly recognizable. McDonald’s has maintained its reputation as having arguably the best fries in the business. There’s also the iconic Big Mac, which comes with the legendary Big Mac Sauce. And outside of these items, the Filet-O-Fish, and the McFlurry, McDonald’s has also become known for their chicken nuggets.
Well, these nuggets just got a limited edition revamp, as McDonald’s just debuted the McDonald's McNugget Caviar Kit, just in time for Valentine’s Day. What better way to say I love you than pairing nuggets and caviar, right? Each kit contains “a 1oz tin of McNugget Caviar, $25 Arch Card for plenty of Chicken McNuggets, plus crème fraîche and a Mother of Pearl caviar spoon to top it all off.”
Unfortunately, if you were hoping to get a kit for a loved one or yourself, you may find yourself out of luck. Upon the product’s release, consumers flocked to the website in droves, to the point that the site crashed.
Is the McDonald's McNugget Caviar Kit Really Sold Out?
Sadly, according to the McDonald’s McNugget Caviar website, the product is sold out. Here’s the official statement from the site:
“Unfortunately, our McNugget® Caviar was everyone’s Valentine this year, and has flown off the shelves. However, you can also elevate your McNuggets® with our sweet and spicy Hot Honey sauce for a limited time. Try it today at your local McDonald’s.”
Hot Honey sauce hardly seems like the comparable consolation prize. However, if you’ve yet to try the new sauce on a crispy McNugget, it would definitely create a different experience.
McNugget Caviar Kit Selling for Big Bucks on eBay
Looking to eBay, it appears that those seeking to get a kit this year still have the option to do so. Some McNugget Caviar Kit confirmations are being sold for as little as $20 bucks, with perhaps “greedier” sellers wanting upward of $400 or even $5,000 (Remember, the kits were initially free from McDonald’s). For those considering going to eBay, I’d advise paying close attention to the product descriptions. Truth be told, if you’re someone wanting just to try McNuggets with caviar, it may be best to purchase the nuggets and the caviar from another vendor separately.
