Saratoga residents lose $33,000 in identity theft

Identity theft: Saratoga residents reported that someone used their personal information to access their investment account and made several fraudulent transactions for a loss of about $33,000.
Theft by false pretenses: A Saratoga resident reported contacting someone after completing an internet search for garage door companies. The victim sent money but never received the door for a total loss of about $2,724.
Feb. 5
Battery: At 5:02 p.m., deputies responded to a disturbance in the 15000 block of Mina Way, where the victim alleged he was pushed twice by the suspect during an altercation. The suspect is known, and the case is being submitted to the District Attorney’s Office for review.
Feb. 6
Residential burglary: At 3:50 p.m. someone entered a residence in the 19000 block of Saint Ann Court by breaking a rear glass door. The residence was searched, but details of any stolen property weren’t provided.
Feb. 8
Identity theft: A Saratoga resident reported that someone used their personal information to open a checking and savings account. No financial loss was reported.
