Presbyterian Pastor Claims Women Have Abortions “Out of Love”
A Presbyterian Church (U.S.A.) pastor who volunteers as a chaplain inside a Planned Parenthood abortion biz told his congregation that women terminate pregnancies out of love and high regard for the value of new life.
Rev. Marvin Ellison, retired professor of Christian ethics at Bangor Theological Seminary and pastor at First Congregational Church in South Portland, Maine shared the remarks during a sermon drawn from his experience as a volunteer chaplain at the facility.
“Women terminate pregnancies for the very same reason that under other circumstances, they carry pregnancies to term and give birth,” Ellison said. “Because of love, because of love and out of their high regard for the value of new life. Love sometimes requires saying ‘no’ to life rather than ‘yes.’ That’s a difficult truth, not always easy to tell.”
It’s one thing to say no to a baby when someone isn’t read – before becoming pregnant. That could be a good thing to make the proper preparations in life for a new child.
But saying “no” via abortion directly means having the baby killed.
Ellison, founder of the Maine Interfaith Council for Reproductive Choices and a former board member of Planned Parenthood of Northern New England for nearly a decade, described the women he meets as religiously affiliated and often surprised to encounter a Christian minister offering support inside the clinic.

He further adds to the confusion and false validation of killing babies by being inside the abortion center and misleadingly giving the impression that it’s okay for a Christian to have an abortion.
“Most women electing to terminate a pregnancy are religiously affiliated,” he said. “And some confided in me that they had never expected to find a Christian minister inside Planned Parenthood. Maybe outside the clinic protesting, but they hadn’t imagined that they would meet a Christian minister inside the clinic, much less offering care and support.”
He added: “They’re not two groups of women- women who love children and women who have abortions. Only one group of women exists.”
The reality is altogether different as authentic Christians don’t celebrate or promote killing babies.
