Norway's Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo Breaks Winter Olympics Record, Michael Phelps Reacts to the News
Johannes Hoesflot Klaebo just won his 10th Olympic gold medal while competing in cross-country skiing, setting a new record!
The 29-year-old Norwegian athlete has now won five gold medals at the 2026 Games, adding to his collection from previous Olympic events. He now has 10 gold medals from across the 2018, 2022, and 2026 Olympics.
At this point, only 2 athletes in the world have won over 10 gold medals at the Olympics: Johannes and Michael Phelps, the swimming legend. By the way, Michael won his 23rd gold medal during his last ever Olympic swim back in 2016.
NBC’s Olympics Instagram page highlighted this big news, and Michael reacted in the comments by writing, “????????.”
“It’s obviously very satisfying to make this happen,” Klaebo said (via ESPN). “The team sprint is one of the most fun events, but also one of the hardest…There are so many strong teams and so many fast skiers, so it always comes down to tight battles. That makes it even more rewarding.”
Congrats!!!
