'Resident Evil 3' Remake Fan Aims To 'Fix' The Game, Ahead of 'Requiem's' Release
We're just over a week away from the release of Resident Evil Requiem, one of the most anticipated games of 2026. However, before the next installment arrives, a passionate modder is going back to Resident Evil 3 remake, one of the most controversial entries, in an attempt to "fix" the problems in it.
Created and showcased by Resident Evil 3 Last Escape on YouTube, the modder has posted a series of videos demonstrating progress on creating a mod for the PC version of the game to restore areas, items, and other content that were cut from the original 1999 game in the 2020 remake.
The series of videos (so far) details the addition of Jack's Bar as a playable area, which was only a cutscene in the remake. The modder has also posted videos showing off ink ribbons and other key items that were not present in the remake.
"Ok, so let me get this straight: not only did you remove Nemesis and Brad from the very beginning of the game, just like the original, but you're adding new areas to add more exploration, making it feel nothing like an interactive cutscene anymore, and you gave Jill her Samurai Edge? And here was I thinking I couldn't get more hyped... This is so cool!" wrote user Gadosen.
Popular Resident Evil content creators have also reacted to the mod. Bawkbasoup praised the mod's progress, saying, "even these little parts of Raccoon City would've went so far." The game saw significant fan backlash upon its original release due to several missing parts in the remake, including whole areas, that fans were expecting to be present in the remake.
There is not an estimated release window for the full mod yet.
Resident Evil 3 remake is available now for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PC, and Nintendo Switch.
