A Daring Scent From Ferragamo Captures Lightning in a Bottle
The name “Ferragamo” has always signified uninhibited boldness, whether it be the iconic designer, Salvatore Ferragamo, or the eponymous label he helped grow into one of the world’s leading luxury houses. At the forefront of Ferragamo’s bold reputation was its founder’s commitment to innovative leatherwork.
From breaking footwear moulds to striking leather handbags, Ferragamo’s archives paint a vivid picture of bold reinterpretations of leatherwork. But as the brand nears its centenary, releases such as its latest men’s fragrance, Ferragamo Sublime Leather, once again blend timeless elegance with contemporary edge.
Throughout each of the brand’s storied chapters, the Ferragamo man has been defined by his ambitions, embodying determination through a curious mind and daring spirit. It feels only fitting, then, that the Ferragamo man — and his new signature scent — be identified by the rich depth of the colour black. Ferragamo Sublime Leather is housed in a signature glass bottle embellished with the brand’s iconic motifs but reimagined as something altogether more contemporary and mysterious.
Drenched in glossy black lacquer, the bottle’s slender silhouette mirrors the urban landscape that the Ferragamo man calls home. A vertical band, further emphasized by a silver, leather-like effect, features the Ferragamo logo. At opposite ends of the badge, another signature detail from the Florentine house is revealed: the hallmark Gancini buckle, rendered in gleaming silver, adorning and sealing the bottle from base to cap.
As for the scent itself, Ferragamo Sublime Leather is centred around a distinctive leather accord, a note that runs deep in the brand’s legacy. It blends sensual, spicy accents with verdant profusion, while a touch of woody opulence heightens its composition. Created in collaboration with Clément Gavarry, principal perfumer of DSM-FIRMENICH, the fragrance delivers amber fougère woody notes made to capture what the house describes as “the electric rhythm of the urban landscape.”
“With this creation, I aimed to encapsulate the vibrant pulse of city life,” explains Gavarry, painting an image of not only the fragrance, but the natural environment of the Ferragamo man himself. “The warm spice of cinnamon intertwines with the herbal richness of davana, stimulating a sense of adventure and warmth, while the grounding essence of cedarwood adds a deep, earthy superiority.”
In combination with its flacon and, of course, the long-standing reputation of the Ferragamo house, Ferragamo Sublime Leather introduces the next chapter of boldness for the brand. Once again reimagining its use of leather, the scent is grounded in the ambition that has always defined the brand, but with new notes of mystery and nuance that make up the contemporary Ferragamo man.
