The snow is settling after a widespread storm dumped powder across the West, with some ski resorts in Colorado reporting multi-foot totals after a long period of mostly dry conditions.

At Aspen Snowmass, a heap of snow has fallen over the past seven days, marking the resort group’s largest weekly snowfall total this season.

“Rope drops. Powder smiles. Sun moments and whiteout storms. More in the forecast for next week…” the resort wrote on social media, sharing footage of locals digging into the fresh snow.

At Crested Butte, more than two feet of snow has fallen over the past week. “Winter is back … and we couldn’t be happier!” the resort reported on social media, also sharing in an email that it expects to get more terrain online in the coming days, including the North Face lift.

Meanwhile, Wolf Creek, which touts itself as the snowiest ski resort in Colorado, has tallied 58 inches in the past seven days, making up considerably for lost ground—or snow—and living up to its name.

The storm arrives amid what's been a remarkably disappointing season for skiers in Colorado. While it has boosted mountain snowpack, that snowpack, statewide, was still 61% of the median as of February 20.

The snow that has fallen, though, is skiing well.

That also means backcountry avalanche danger remains elevated in much of the state, according to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center.

The organization shared earlier this week that it is very concerned about potential avalanche accidents over the weekend amid strong pent-up demand from skiers and snowboarders.

All totals are seven-day totals unless otherwise specified. All were gathered from ski resort snow reports on Friday, February 20.
