Woman killed in Far South Side drive-by shooting
One woman was killed and another wounded in an East Side neighborhood drive-by shooting early Saturday on the Far South Side.
Just after 1 a.m., both women, ages 29 and 37, were in a crowd gathered in a parking lot in the 10200 block of South Avenue J when someone opened fire from a passing blue vehicle, according to a statement from Chicago police.
The older woman was hit in the leg and the younger in the chest. They were taken to the University of Chicago Medical Center, where the 29-year-old later died, police said.
The 37-year-old was listed in good condition. No one was in custody as detectives investigated Saturday morning.
