Posts calling on a ‘violent street fight’ between children spread across more schools

TikTokers are encouraging pupils to use weapons in a ‘war’ between South London schools, just days after a similar instance in Hackney.

An account called ‘Croydon War’ is reportedly urging local students to use rulers, scissors, metal combs or compasses against their ‘opponents’.

Some of the town’s schools have been divided into red and blue teams, and a set of rules has been laid out, which say the ‘game’ is for years nine, 10 and 11.

The latest video follows a similar post about a ‘war’ in Hackney, East London, in which pupils were told to ‘be violent’.

While the Croydon clip says ‘no violence’, the videos still urge students to use rulers, metal combs and scissors.

Students are also asked to record their attacks and share them online for ‘extra points’.

Parents have shared warnings online about the event, with one writing: ‘This is not a game. This is a scheduled street war.’

Some posts have said the ‘wars’ will begin today, while others list Friday, followed by further meetings on March 2, 4, 5 and 6.

In a statement issued to Inside Croydon, a Met spokesperson said: ‘We’re aware of social media posts circulating, and we are in close contact with schools across various London boroughs to offer reassurance.

‘Officers will be visible around the schools named at the start and end of the day, and we will respond firmly to any reports of violence or disorder.’

Metro has contacted TikTok for a statement.

The Hackney school fight

Last week, Metro learned that a post calling for a major fight between eight different schools had been circulating around social media.

Year 9 pupils had been encouraged to ‘be violent’ and to bring sharp objects such as compasses and metal combs to the McDonald’s on Mare Street in Hackney, starting last week and ending on July 6.

The shocking social media post describes a ‘Hackney War’ between eight schools and divides them into ‘red’ and ‘blue’ sides.

City Academy, Cardinal Pole, Haggerston School, Urswick School, The Excelsior Academy, Bridge Academy, Mossbourne Community Academy and City of London Academy Shoreditch Park are mentioned in the post.

A grandmother, who has a grandson in the same year group, said she has pleaded with the schools to notify parents.

She told Metro: ‘I have called all the schools and so far everyone seems disinterested, but we all saw what happened at Kingsbury High School. This could end up being really serious.’

Metro was told police are patrolling the area this afternoon in case something happens.
