Dejan Kulusevski injury update: Igor Tudor reveals what he knows about Tottenham return

Igor Tudor has offered fresh clarity on both Dejan Kulusevski and Destiny Udogie’s injuries as Tottenham continue to battle through a demanding run with a stretched squad.

Igor Tudor will be desperate to have several of his injured players back and available for selection as he aims to keep Tottenham in the Premier League.

The Croatian is also expected to compete in the Champions League, and Tudor has made it clear that competing in the UCL with just 13 fit players is a big ask.

Cristian Romero is not expected to return from suspension until March 15, while the likes of Kevin Danso and Pedro Porro have returned to training.

James Maddison, Wilson Odobert, Dejan Kulusevski, Lucas Bergvall, Rodrigo Bentancur and Destiny Udogie all remain sidelined.

Speaking to football.london, Tudor provided an update on Udogie and Kulusevski, outlining the club’s cautious approach and stressing the importance of ensuring both return in the right condition rather than being rushed back.

He said: “It’s a weekly basis. When they come, they come. We need to be focused on the way, also, how they come back into the team. The main important thing is, in time, they are recovering to put them in good condition.

“So when they come back, they are in good shape. Otherwise, it is a problem. But we are working. This is an important part of our job. Yes. I know [Deki] from Juventus. Fantastic player, fantastic guy. Difficult moment.

“He’s had really big problems, as you know, here. But he’s positive. And also the doctors are positive. So we will see, next week, how it is going.”

Asked whether Kulusevski will play this season, Tudor added: “We hope so. In this moment, we don’t know.”

Spurs must handle Kulusevski return carefully amid long-term absence

Graham Potter also provided an update on Kulusevski, stating that it is uncertain whether the Swede will be back in time for Sweden’s World Cup play-off game in March.

Kulusevski has been out for well over seven months after picking up a knee injury in May last year.

His absence has dragged on, making it vital that the midfielder returns in peak condition to avoid any further setbacks.
