Post-Work Friday Laps Are Easy at Mt. Rose Thanks To Extended Lift Hours
A Tahoe-area ski resort is taking advantage of longer days and mid-winter conditions to bring guests longer days of skiing and riding. Mt. Rose-Ski Tahoe, Nevada, is bringing back its "Open Late" schedule, starting this weekend.
Beginning on Friday, February 27th, the ski area plans to keep lifts spinning and resort services open late on Fridays and Saturdays through the end of the season. From February 27 until March 8, the mountain will stay open until 5:30 p.m. Following the end of daylight saving time on March 8, operations will continue until 6pm, giving skiers the ability to take advantage of the resort's 1,200 acres of skiable terrain.
Mt. Rose boasts the highest base area elevation of any ski resort in the Lake Tahoe Area (8,260 ft.), keeping snow conditions good late into the season, even on the warmest days.
“With longer days ahead and mid-winter snow conditions here now, we’re bringing back our ‘Open Late’ schedule to give skiers and riders the opportunity for bonus runs with an additional two hours on Fridays and Saturdays,” said Mike Pierce, Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe marketing director, in a press release.

As part of the extended hours, Mt. Rose will offer several discounted lift ticket promotions. "Ski G.I.F." tickets and "Sleep in Saturday" promotions offer discounted lift tickets after 12 p.m. on Fridays and Saturdays to sweeten the deal. "Bonus Monday" tickets are also discounted for those who ski Mt. Rose the previous Saturday or Sunday. The resort is also bringing back its public race league, Friday Nite Gates, on Fridays.
As part of Mt. Rose's extended schedule, the Northwest Express, Lakeview Express, Wizard, and Magic lifts will all stay open later. The Snowdeck off Lakeside trail will also stay open late and offer beer, wine, snacks, and feature DJs on Friday afternoons for an extended après. Wildslide Tubing will also remain open late on Fridays and Saturdays.
