Survivor's Kyle Fraser Confirms He Had Full Achilles Tear, Explains What Happened After Leaving the Game
If you watched the premiere of Survivor 50, you saw that Kyle Fraser, a past winner, suffered a terrible injury during one of the competitions.
While trying to scale a steep wooden wall with no rope, he looked to land funny and immediately couldn’t put weight on one of his ankles.
Medical immediately checked him out and Jeff Probst, the show’s host, paused the competition while it happened. Medical cleared him to continue, but showed up to his camp later to perform more tests.
While examining him with very limited tools and supplies, the doctor realized he likely had an injury to his Achilles tendon, and continuing the game could put him at risk of permanent injury.
Kyle now revealed that he did have a full tear in his Achilles tendon, and shared what happened immediately after he left Fiji.

Kyle told EW, “I had one night at Ponderosa [the sequester area for Survivor contestants]. I got there, Jenna [who was the first eliminated contestant] was there. We had a lovely night together. I spent the following morning there and I was out back to the United States immediately. We flew to L.A., I got to see my brother in the airport lounge for maybe 30 minutes, and then I was back to New York within, I think, 32 hours. I went to the doctor immediately, got checked out. They confirmed that it was a full tear in the Achilles and that I needed surgery. And I believe I had surgery probably four to five days later, because you have to get it done as quickly as possible.”
He continued, “CBS had to send an escort with me because I couldn’t do anything. I had to be wheeled around everywhere. I couldn’t carry my bags. I was so grateful that they were able to do that. Got to fly first class, don’t normally do that.”
His doctor revealed how the tear happened, too, likely by “putting force into the wall immediately back-to-back-to-back.”
Kyle also said he argued with Jeff to try and remain in the game, but it obviously did not work out for him.
