Did Konsa Cross The Line — Or Are Villa Fans Overreacting?

Hearing someone call another person a dickhead has always made me chuckle, for some reason. So I’ve been having a right laugh reading some Villa fans going back and forth on social media, calling each other dickheads, lol, all because our captain for Friday night, Ezri Konsa, was said by some Villa fan accounts on X to have called a supporter a “dickhead” at the final whistle. There’s no confirmed footage or official statement regarding the exchange, but it got me thinking, does Konsa have the right to have a go back?

A number of fans made their feelings known after that miserable loss, with jeers and boos at the final whistle, which clearly wound up Konsa. Like I said in my previous post, Villa fans have every right to an opinion on all things Aston Villa. We lost miserably; the fans booed, hissed, and jeered. As long as it’s not during the game, that’s fair enough in my book.

Now, did Konsa have the right to respond? For me, yes, of course he did. But he was captain for the night, he should conduct himself properly, I hear you say? So what? In my opinion, he still has the right to have a go back. Captain or not.

Come on, my fellow Villans. This is what it looks like when there’s a disagreement between the lads, whether it’s at work, down the pub, or at the game. A few choice words, a blazing argument, maybe even a little fisticuffs. It’s okay. Like the song says, “And if the boys want to fight, you better let them.” It’s no big deal.

Look, nobody actually wants to see anyone physically fighting, I’m just messing around. The point I’m making is that Villa fans, players, and management all have the right to express themselves. It doesn’t mean we’re not united, even though we’re going through a rough patch. It just means don’t throw your dummy out the pram because one of our own chose to dig one or two of us out. Honestly, we’re big, bad, and ugly enough to take it. UTV

Note. The original version of this got picked up by an algorithm, fair enough. So I’ve got to tweak it to make sure it still gets aggregated. So here we are. A sanitised, safe version of a blog post about a footballer calling a fan a name. Madness, but there we go.
