Molly Armanino Is Out for the Season After Freak Accident In Austria
Freeride World Tour (FWT) competitor Molly Armanino (USA) is officially out for the season.
Armanino was injured while skiing in Austria, presumably after the FWT Georgia Pro stop was relocated to Kühtai/Innsbruck, which was ultimately cancelled.
In an Instagram post about her injury, Armanino said that after jumping off a small cliff, she landed and caught a rock buried beneath the snow. The crash broke her two main lower leg bones, the tibia and fibula, but luckily, her knee and ankle seem okay.
"What seemed like an innocent hit turned into a broken tibia and fibula," read the caption of her post. "Lots more updates to come, and things are looking positive for a smooth recovery thanks to Austrian health care!"
Earlier this season, Armanino came in third place at the Freeride World Championships in Andorra. She is currently in 9th place overall in FWT standings following the Baqueria-Beret and Val Thorens stops of the FWT.

There's one stop left in the 2026 FWT Season at Fieberbrunn, Austria, before the two final stops in Haines, Alaska, and Verbier. Due to the cancellation of the Georgia Pro, the best two out of three results from the first three stops of the tour will count towards competitors qualifying for the final events.
The best four out of five results will count towards the overall ratings.
Xtreme Verbier returns as the long-awaited season finale for the FWT in 2026, with the reimagined Alaska Haines Pro proceeding it, and replacing Kicking Horse as a tour destination.
