Cyprus industrial turnover rises in December
Cyprus recorded a 4.9 per cent increase in its industrial turnover index during December 2025 compared with the same month a year earlier, according to the latest figures released by the Cyprus Statistical Service (Cystat).
The index, which uses 2021 as a base year of 100, reached 139.8 units for the month, highlighting a resilient end to the year for the island’s industrial base.
For the full year of 2025, the index recorded a total increase of 5 per cent when compared with the entirety of 2024.
Manufacturing proved to be the primary engine of this growth, with its specific index reaching 146.8 units in December 2025.
This figure represented a sharp annual increase of 7.1 per cent for the manufacturing sector compared with December of the previous year.
A positive performance was also recorded in the mining and quarrying sector, which saw a turnover increase of 6 per cent.
By contrast, the electricity supply sector experienced a decline of 3.8 per cent during the same period.
The water supply and materials recovery sector also noted a contraction, with turnover falling by 6.8 per cent year-on-year.
The Industrial Turnover Index is designed to reflect monthly changes in turnover across the branches of mining and quarrying, manufacturing, electricity, and water supply.
These categories align with sections B, C, D, and E of the NACE Rev. 2 statistical classification used across the European Union.
The service clarified that the index does not include activities related to sewerage, waste collection, or remediation activities.
The aggregated data is further broken down to distinguish between the local market and the export market.
Furthermore, the index is compiled according to main industrial groupings, including intermediate goods, energy, and capital goods.
The data also tracks the performance of both durable and non-durable consumer goods within the industrial landscape.
