Alysa Liu is issuing a little correction to the world.
The 20-year-old Olympic figure skater revealed how to correctly say her last name in an interview, admitting that it’s often mispronounced.

Alysa revealed that while many people pronounce her last name as “Lu,” it’s actually “Lee-oh.”
“I personally don’t care. [My last name] can be hard to [pronounce]. And I don’t expect people to know how to say that,” she told Newsweek.
Her first name is also different: her family pronounces it “Ally-sa,” but her friends pronounce it as “Alyssa.”
“‘Alyssa’ is how my friends call me. And that’s how the world calls me,” she added. Watch her explain how it’s pronounced above!
