Woman’s hijab pulled off by three attackers who tried to steal her car
A woman was dragged to the ground from behind and had her Hijab pulled off near a train station in Birmingham last night.
The victim said the attack on Hunton Hill, in Erdington, left her and her elderly dad ‘traumatised and shocked’.
West Midlands Police are now searching for three men after the incident close to Gravelly Hill train station at 6.30pm yesterday.
The attackers tried to get into her car, but the victim’s dad stepped in, police said.
The group – described as three white men – left the scene on foot, police said.

Officers are checking mobile phone footage and CCTV from the area, but no arrests have been made.
In a post on social media, the victim said: ‘As I was approaching my car to go to the mosque to pray, three English men approached me.
‘One of the attackers attacked me from behind, pulling my Hijab off and pushed me to the ground and tried to rob my car.
‘My elderly dad, who is in his 70s, was trying to protect me when they pushed him into the gate.’
She added: ‘All I could do was scream, and that is what made the guy who attacked me run off and the other two casually walked away as if they never attacked us.
‘This attack has left my dad and me feeling very traumatised and shocked.’
A police spokesman told BirminghamLive: ‘We’re investigating after a woman was attacked as she loaded up her car in Birmingham last night.
‘During the incident, the woman was grabbed from behind and had her hijab pulled off as she was dragged to the floor, on Hunton Hill, at around 6.30pm yesterday.’
Insp Hayley Thompson, from Sutton and Erdington police, said: ‘This was a terrifying ordeal for the woman and her father, and we are working hard to identify and arrest those responsible.
‘We’ll have extra officers in the area today and will be supporting the woman who was attacked as our investigation continues.’
