Porsche's New Cayenne Electric Gets The Sporty S Treatment
There's something to be said for getting just enough fast car. The Cayenne Electric lineup expands to offer what may be just enough fast SUV. The new Cayenne S Electric model fits in between the base model and the high-power, even-higher-dollar Turbo. Like the Turbo, the new S model bears dual motors and all-wheel drive. However, power output is walked back somewhat, to a more "tame" 536 horsepower. That's outside of Launch Control mode, which unlocks more power for short bursts. Peak output is actually 657 horsepower. It's enough to get the EV to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and on to a top speed of 155 mph.
As for the battery, you'll find the same 113-kilowatt-hour battery pack with 400-kilowatt charging capability. Manage to eek that out of your local EV charger, and the battery can be topped up from 10 percent to 80 percent in less than 16 minutes, says Porsche.

A few key items will help the Cayenne S Electric stand out beyond its spec sheet. Those include new accents painted in a Volcano Grey Metallic hue and unique bumpers, both front and rear. Porsche also uses the new Cayenne S Electric to debut a new options package available on other models, too. The new Interior Style Package adds a black-and-green two-tone cabin to some trim and paint combos, as well as green accents extending onto the doors, wheel, and dash.
A few options can be ordered to help make the big SUV a bit quicker or more lithe, including Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus (PTV Plus) and Active Ride suspension. Also on offer will be the Sport Chrono Package and ceramic-composite brakes.

The Cayenne S Electric isn't cheap, predictably. Base models begin at $111,350, while the new S model fits under the $165,350 to start at $128,650. Deliveries should start at the end of this summer here in the US.
