Kerry Washington Talks Possibility of ‘Scandal’ Revival at ‘Imperfect Women’ Premiere
If you too are a former “Gladiator,” then you can recall that Thursday nights from 2012 to 2018 were must-watch TV events in the US in large part due to the Shonda Rhimes hit series Scandal. Led by the Emmy-winning star Kerry Washington, Scandal was a high-octane political drama that captivated fans from episode to episode with jaw-dropping plot twists, riveting dialogue, and provocative romances. Over the course of seven seasons and 124 episodes, the drama earned Emmy, NAACP Image Award, Critics’ Choice Award, and Peabody Award wins and was a favorite of critics and social media.
With all that being said, it’s natural for the forever fans of the series to want to see it return with new episodes. Recently, while promoting her new Apple TV drama, Imperfect Women, Washington weighed in on the possibility of a Scandal revival.

Speaking to E! News at the Los Angeles premiere of Imperfect Women, Washington was reminded that April 2026 will commemorate the eight-year anniversary of the end of Scandal. She was eventually asked:
“Is there ever any talk about getting the gang back together for a special?... I mean, people are always looking to like re-use IP now, and I feel like you guys could do that, and there’s a lot going on that Olivia Pope could weigh in on.”
Washington casually skirted around the question, answering, “I feel like that’s a Shonda Rhimes question. But you know, I do have like imaginary children, Tyriq and Chase, that I’ve been taking selfies with all over town.”
Now, for those of you who don’t know, there are some diehard Scandal fans who created some fan-fiction in regards to the series. They’ve imagined that actors Tyriq Withers (Him) and Chase Infiniti (One Battle After Another) are the children of Washington’s Olivia Pope and Tony Goldwyn’s President Fitzgerald Grant. Washington herself played into the narrative with an Instagram post teasing “It’s a family reunion.”
Tony Goldwyn Chimed in on ‘Scandal’ Revival
Goldwyn was asked back in September 2025 by Variety about the possibility of a Scandal revival, and interestingly enough, his response was nearly identical to Washington’s. In the clip below, he too says, “That’s a question for Shonda Rhimes.” It makes me wonder, could a Scandal-related project be in the works, and the stars are playing coy?
