Why EJAE Could Win an Oscar, But Rei Ami & Audrey Nuna Won't Get One
EJAE might be winning big tonight, but her HUNTR/X bandmates won’t be getting the same award if KPop Demon Hunters wins.
The 34-year-old singer-songwriter co-wrote “Golden” from the massively popular KPop Demon Hunters.
REI AMI and Audrey Nuna, who also sing on the song, did not, which means they aren’t eligible to win.

The track was co-written by EJAE, Mark Sonnenblick, 24, Ido and Teddy.
This particular award for Best Original Song is given to the songwriters behind the song, so Audrey and REI AMI – who also provided their voices for the fictional girl group HUNTR/X – would not be recipients.
EJAE admitted the melody was one of the first things she came up with for the song.
“That was the first thing that I came up with. I actually wrote the melody on my way to the dentist,” she told Variety last year.
“I cried when I was recording the ‘Golden’ demo. I wish I heard it when I was in K-pop training. I put a lot of my feelings into the bridge,” she also said.
