Another village in Kazakhstan voluntarily bans alcohol sales

Tengrinews.kz - Residents of Dalabay, a village in the Akmola region, have voluntarily decided to ban the sale of alcohol in their community, citing the regional prosecutor’s office.
According to a statement released by the prosecutor's office, a community meeting was held in Dalabay, where the main topic was the voluntary refusal to sell alcoholic beverages within the village.

“The initiative received strong support and was unanimously backed by the village elders, who emphasized the importance of preserving moral values, maintaining public order, and ensuring the safety of the younger generation. Following the meeting, a protocol was signed, affirming the commitment to create a healthy and safe environment in Dalabay,” the statement said.

The prosecutor’s office noted that similar initiatives have already been implemented in various regions of Kazakhstan.

“Some of these areas have recorded zero crimes in recent years, which highlights the positive impact of such efforts on public safety and order,” the agency added.

According to open sources, the village of Dalabay consists of five streets, and as of the 2009 national census, had a population of 365 people.
Earlier, in May 2025, residents of two villages in the North Kazakhstan region decided to stop selling and consuming alcohol.
