Arsenal are poised to bolster their centre-forward department ahead of next season.
The Gunners scored 69 goals in the Premier League last term as they finished second in the table.
They managed 22 fewer goals than the previous campaign and must upgrade their attack.
Sport Bild now claim that Arsenal have reached an agreement with RB Leipzig striker Sesko over personal terms.
The Gunners have also signalled their intention to pay a fee close to Leipzig’s valuation of the striker.
Leipzig are eyeing a figure between €80-100 million to part ways with Sesko, who scored 21 goals and provided six assists in all competitions last season.
Sport Bild seem to suggest that a transfer could be close, but Slovenian outlet Ekipa claim that the information is ‘false’ and ‘the truth is different’.
Arsenal must not get dragged into a long striker saga
The Gunners had an underwhelming end to the previous league campaign. They finished 10 points behind eventual champions Liverpool after a poor run of results.
Arne Slot’s side already mean business with the acquisitions of Jeremie Frimpong and Florian Wirtz. They are also about to sign Bournemouth left-back Milos Kerkez.
Similarly, Manchester City have already secured the signings of Tijjani Reijnders, Rayan Ait Nouri and Rayan Cherki on the back of a massive winter spending spree.
Arsenal have remained rather quiet, with barely any activity. They have an agreement in place for Real Sociedad midfielder Martin Zubimendi, but need many more signings.
The onus must be on bolstering the attack with a marquee striker and winger. So far, they have made no progress for any centre-forward, with no official offers on the table.
Hopefully, the club can find a solution before the start of pre-season. They must not be dragged into a long transfer saga until late July or August, particularly with the demanding schedule to start the campaign.
