Status of Rakhmonov’s wife clarified after fatal car crash
Tengrinews.kz - Gulayym Rakhmonova, wife of Kazakh UFC fighter Shavkat Rakhmonov, has been questioned as a witness following a deadly traffic accident in the Zhambyl region that claimed the lives of two women.
The accident occurred on July 27, 2025, on the Almaty–Yekaterinburg highway. According to police, the driver of a Toyota Land Cruiser 200 — identified as Rakhmonova — lost control of the vehicle, causing it to overturn.
Rakhmonova and her son were hospitalized with moderate injuries. The two other female passengers died at the scene.
In response to a request from Tengrinews.kz, the Zhambyl Region Police Department confirmed that Rakhmonova has been questioned as a witness with the right to legal protection. Authorities added that she remains hospitalized in Almaty.
"All necessary investigative procedures are being conducted to establish a full picture of the incident. Relevant forensic examinations have been assigned. The individual you mentioned has been interviewed as a witness with protective rights. A procedural decision regarding her role will be made following the completion of the investigation in accordance with current legislation," the department stated.
Officials noted that further details could not be disclosed under Article 201 of Kazakhstan’s Criminal Procedure Code, which restricts public release of information during active investigations.
