Kazakh officials given deadline to switch to new messenger
Tengrinews.kz - Prime Minister Olzhas Bektenov chaired a meeting of the Digital Headquarters on the implementation of President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev’s instructions from a recent session on artificial intelligence. During the meeting, deadlines were announced for government officials to switch to the national messenger Aitu, citing the government’s press service.
The Digital Headquarters approved a comprehensive plan for integrating government information systems, regulations for handling datasets used in artificial intelligence, and a roadmap for their implementation. Deadlines were also set for consolidating state data on the Smart Data Ukimet platform.
According to the government:
By September 1, 2025 – integration using the new hashing method;
By December 1, 2025 – transfer of all data to the platform;
By September 15, 2025 – transition of all government employees to the national messenger Aitu.
Bektenov emphasized the importance of the timely and effective implementation of these measures.
“The Head of State has set a clear goal: Kazakhstan must become a digital hub in Eurasia. Specific tasks have been outlined. Today, the Digital Headquarters made decisions that are binding on all government agencies and organizations. The results are aimed at strengthening information security and improving the efficiency of the public administration system,” Bektenov stated.
The meeting also reviewed plans for the nationwide rollout of Aitu. The messenger was first piloted at the Ministry of Digital Development, Innovation, and Aerospace Industry, and will now be introduced across all government bodies and quasi-state organizations.
Earlier, it was reported that the Armed Forces of Kazakhstan had already begun using Aitu for official communications.
Previously, during a meeting on AI development, President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed the government to consider transferring all communications involving personal data to the secure national messenger Aitu.
