Arsenal boost as Friday inside report shares when Saka could return to action
Arsenal are hopeful that Bukayo Saka will be available against Manchester City, according to the Independent journalist Miguel Delaney.
He claimed in his ‘Inside Football’ bi-weekly newsletter today that the Gunners attacker could be available to take on Man City at Emirates Stadium next Sunday (September 21).
Saka picked up a knock in the Premier League game against Leeds United on August 23, lasting just eight minutes into the second-half.
There were fears the Arsenal attacker had sustained a major hamstring problem, but the initial prognosis looked promising.
He was unavailable against Liverpool at Anfield before the international break and will miss the game against Nottingham Forest tomorrow and the Champions League opener against Athletic Club in Spain on Tuesday.
However, Saka could be fully fit when Man City come visiting next weekend in what would potentially be a huge boost for manager Mikel Arteta.
Saka missed up to four months last season after undergoing hamstring surgery on his right leg, but he has not picked up a serious injury this time.
While Arsenal have enough attacking depth following the additions of Noni Madueke and Eberechi Eze in the summer transfer window, having the Hale End graduate available for such a big game will be huge.
They lost 1-0 to Liverpool in his absence and cannot afford to drop points against Man City if they want to go one better in the Premier League title race this season.
The Gunners need to return to winning ways tomorrow against a Forest side with a new manager in Ange Postecoglou, and they would fancy their chances without Saka.
A victory in their opening game of the league phase of the Champions League is also very feasible without the England international, but they need him against City and will be praying he is available for selection for the game.
