Tokayev congratulates Kazakhstanis on the start of the holy month of Ramadan

Tengrinews.kz – President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev has congratulated Kazakhstanis on the beginning of the month of Ramazan.

The text of the congratulations was published by Akorda’s press service on Thursday, 19 February.

Dear compatriots!

I sincerely congratulate you on the beginning of the month of Ramazan, which is sacred for all Muslims!

For tens and hundreds of millions of people, this is a time of spiritual purification, moral self-improvement, and of showing mercy and compassion to one’s neighbour.

Orazа instils resilience and patience, and also nurtures such important human qualities as modesty, responsibility, and integrity.

The spiritual values of oraza should be perceived consciously and maturely, with a comprehensive understanding of the complex processes taking place around us. This, too, is an expression of the proper understanding of the power and mercy of the Almighty.

Kazakhstan has entered an era of transformation and modernization that is historic by its very nature. A draft of the new people’s Constitution has been submitted to a nationwide referendum. This is the Basic Law that determines the development of our state along the path of progress and justice.

The document embodies the strengthening of our centuries-old statehood, the enhancement of the effectiveness of political, civil, and economic institutions, and is aimed at protecting human rights.

By carefully preserving and supporting our traditional spiritual and cultural values, we are shaping a new national mentality that correctly understands and upholds such public principles as the Rule of Law and legality, Order and Cleanliness, Justice and Patriotism. All these principles are in tune with the eternal values of the holy month of Ramazan.

In a civilized society of knowledge, purity, and good intentions, the holy month of Ramazan will gain new spiritual strength and have a beneficial effect on all decent people.

This year, the holy month of Ramazan and the associated fast of oraza begins on 19 February and will continue until 19 March inclusive.

The night of 16 to 17 March is the holy Night of Decree, Laylat al-Qadr (Qadır tuni).20 March is the Orazа Ait (Eid al-Fitr) holiday.
