Freezing temperatures expected in Astana after snowstorm, while Almaty will experience springlike warmth

Weather forecast for Astana
February 18: Partly cloudy with light precipitation (rain and snow) at night, and snow and rain during the day. Icy conditions and low-level snowstorms are expected. Winds will be from the southwest at 9-14 m/s, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s. Night temperatures will range from -1°C to -3°C, and daytime temperatures will be between 0°C and +2°C.
February 19: Partly cloudy with intermittent snow, low-level snowstorms, and icy conditions. Expect fog in the early morning and night. Winds will be from the northeast at 9-14 m/s, with gusts reaching 15-20 m/s. The temperature will be between -11°C and -13°C both day and night.
February 20: Partly cloudy with no precipitation. Winds will be from the east-southeast at 9-14 m/s, with gusts of 15-20 m/s. The temperature will drop to between -21°C and -23°C at night, and between -12°C and -14°C during the day.
Weather forecast for Almaty
February 18: Partly cloudy with no precipitation. A slight fog will form at night. Winds will shift from the southeast to southwest at 3-8 m/s. Night temperatures will be between +2°C and +4°C, and daytime temperatures will range from +14°C to +16°C.
February 19: Partly cloudy, with rain expected in the evening. Winds will be from the northwest at 3-8 m/s. The temperature will be between +3°C and +5°C at night and between +15°C and +17°C during the day.
February 20: Partly cloudy with no precipitation, and fog is expected at night. Winds will be from the northeast at 3-8 m/s. Night temperatures will range from +2°C to +4°C, and daytime temperatures will be between +12°C and +14°C.
Cyclone impact and temperature changes
Earlier, forecasters warned that a cyclone moving across Kazakhstan from the Ural Mountains will bring snow, icy conditions, and snowstorms. Starting from February 18, an anticyclone from the Helsinki area will shift northward, bringing colder temperatures of -18°C to -23°C in the north, while precipitation will gradually cease. In contrast, the south will experience warmer temperatures, reaching +15°C to +20°C.
