Three-meter python seized from Kazakh woman and handed over to the state
Tengrinews.kz – A large python was seized from a resident of Atyrau who kept it at home without the necessary permits, according to the Specialized Administrative Court of the city.
The court reported that an administrative case was considered against citizen D. under Part 1 of Article 389 of the Code of Administrative Offences of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The article concerns the illegal acquisition, transportation or keeping of species of wild animals and plants, as well as their parts or derivatives.
“As established by the court, citizen D. kept at her place of residence, in a domestic setting, a python weighing 30 kilograms and measuring 3–3.5 meters in length, without the permits required under CITES (the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora),” the statement said.
The Kazakh woman’s guilt was confirmed by the case materials, including the administrative offence report, interview records, and photographic evidence.
The sanction under this article provides for a fine for individuals in the amount of 10 MCI (monthly calculation indices), with confiscation of wild animals and their products.
By court ruling, the woman was found guilty and given an administrative fine. Taking into account the nature of the offence and the personality of the offender, the amount was reduced by 30 percent — to 30,275 tenge.
The python was confiscated and transferred to state ownership. The court decision has not yet entered into legal force.
