You are the real enemies of Nigeria - Northern group blasts Arewa youths over quit notice to Igbos
- A Coalition of Northern Civil Society Organizations criticised the youths who ordered Igbos to leave the north
- The group said they were happy to be staying with Igbos
- They said they were not at war with other parts of the country
A Coalition of Northern Civil Society Organizations (NCSO) has lashed out at the Arewa youths who issued a quit notice to Igbos living in the north asking them to live within 90 days.
Vanguard reports that the NCSO in a statement on Wednesday, June 7 said the north was not at war with Igbos and therefore see no reasons why they should be ejected.

The group described the declaration as treason and that it has no place in Nigeria’s constitution.
“The ultimatum and directives of “The Kaduna Declaration” are as perverted as the wrong impression being given by secessionists that they enjoy widespread support. The declaration does not reflect the sentiments of the north or the northerners who as Nigerians are receptive to all ethnicities.
“We therefore strongly condemn the wrong impression being created to the effect that the north is at war with Igbos to warrant serving them quit notice. The north is not at war with any part of Nigeria as the region truly believes in the strength of a united Nigeria.
“We are not only happy to live with the Igbos but we are eagerly available to do business with them and everyone else that believes in one Nigeria.”
The NCSO asked the government to blacklist the coalition that signed the eviction notice and called on well-meaning northerners to dissociate themselves from them.
Meanwhile, The Arewa Youth Consultative Forum expressed disappointment over Governor Nasiru El-Rufai’s statement condemning them and ordering for their arrest.
Abdulaziz Suleiman who is the coordinator of the group described the reaction of El-Rufai as disappointing.
He said: “We are currently meeting to decide on how best to react.”
“Personally, I am disappointed with some of our leaders. These types of threats were issued against the Fulani recently and no governor from the South came out to condemn it.”
