US household wealth ticks up 1.4 percent to $94.8 trillion
U.S. stock and mutual fund portfolios jumped $1.3 trillion in value in the January-March quarter, the Federal Reserve said Thursday.
Total household wealth includes checking and savings accounts, and subtracts mortgages and other debt.
Household debt has reached record heights, but the debt has been driven mostly by ballooning student and auto loans.
Mortgages, credit card debt and home equity lines of credit still lag pre-recession levels.
