Felice Herrig to meet Cortney Casey at UFC 218
Surging Herring will face off with “Cast Iron” Casey at UFC 218 in Detroit.
Number nine-ranked strawweight Felice Herrig announced via Instagram that her next fight would be against number 12 Cortney Casey December 2nd at UFC 218 in Detroit.
Herrig is currently riding a three-fight win streak and recently cracked the division's top 10 for the first time in her three-year UFC career.
The 32-year-old Jeff Curran student has rocketed up the rankings following a 2015 defeat to Paige VanZant. Since the VanZant loss, Herrig has rattled off victories over Kailin Curran, Alexa Grasso and most recently Justine Kish.
Hawaii's Casey is coming off of her biggest win to date, a three-round domination of former WSOF champion Jessica Aguilar at UFC 211.
However Casey had her win temporarily overturned to a no contest when the Texas Department of Licensing and Regulations announced Casey's drug screening showed elevated testosterone levels. They also levied a three-month suspension on the 30 year old fighter.
Backed by Jeff Novitzky and USADA, Casey would go on to contest the test results and ultimately get the suspension and no contest ruling overturned.
