Cincinnati State drops all sports except soccer after cuts
CINCINNATI (AP) — Cincinnati State Technical and Community College say it's suspending all sports except women's and men's soccer due to budget cuts.
The soccer teams will play for the fall season, but the basketball, volleyball and golf teams will not. The Cincinnati Enquirer reports (http://cin.ci/2wNHr7F ) the college says the suspension of most sports is only temporary.
Cincinnati State President Monica Posey says the college is going through a temporary transition, as cutting sports is a part of a broad restructuring to keep the college affordable. The college notified student-athletes last year and helped several players get placed with other colleges to keep pursuing their athletic careers.
