IPOB reveals why it is going to boycott Anambra state governorship election

- The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) said it is planning to boycott Anambra state governorship election because of Igbo

- Cyprian Okoye, the leader of IPOB in Enugu state said the group is resolute in the effort to achieve Biafra republic out of the present federation

- Okoye, however, noted that it is obvious that Nigerian structure does not support the inclusion of Ndigbo

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) on Tuesday, August 5, said its agenda to boycott Anambra state governorship election that will hold on November 18 was in the overall interest of Ndigbo.

IPOB which appealed to the Igbo to support the move, declared that there was no better way to prove its disdain for current situation in the land than to reject plans and policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government, Guardian reports.

Cyprian Okoye, the leader of IPOB in Enugu state, said the group was resolute in the effort to achieve Biafra republic out of the present federation.

Okoye said: ''Show our disdain for current situation in the land than to reject plans and policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led federal government.

‘’It is obvious that the structure that has been in place does not support the inclusion of Igbo in the marriage called Nigeria''.

Okoye, who also spoke on the sudden disappearance of one of the leaders of the group, Anthony Ejike Ochi, said that they would deploy all in their ability to ascertain his whereabouts.

Ochi, 34, married with two children, was said to have left his Lagos base three months ago to attend a meeting of the group in Enugu but allegedly did not get to the meeting or seen in Enugu.

The federal government has been urged to carefully and critically look into the agitation of IPOB and treat the matter with the right application of relevant laws without prejudice.

Meanwhile, NAIJ.com had reported that the Anambra state Association of Town Unions (ASATU) compared the call by IPOB to boycott the election as a shot to one’s own leg.
