‘Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan’ back in theaters for 35th anniversary
The director’s cut of “Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan” arrives in 21 Bay Area theaters for its 35th anniversary, just one week after “Close Encounters of the Third Kind” was back in the multiplexes for its 40th anniversary.

And that’s the way Admiral James T. Kirk is feeling, too, as Nicholas Meyer’s epic opens with Kirk (William Shatner) on his way out to pasture, overseeing the training of a new crew to take over the Enterprise. Soon a couple of blasts from the pasts get Kirk feeling young again — old flame Dr. Carol Marcus (Bibi Besch), inventor of the Genesis Planet, and old enemy Khan (Ricardo Montalban in his greatest performance), who wants the Genesis technology for himself.
