OLYMPIA — A Washington official is trying to change state law to push the presidential primary earlier in the year, giving voters a greater influence in the election.

(AP) — The University of Central Arkansas is reducing spending for the remainder of the fiscal year due to projected reduction in state funding. Diane Newton, vice president for finance and administration, tells the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette (http://bit.ly/2lh7iiN ) that the university has asked departments to only spend when necessary, instead of enacting a spending freeze. Newton says cost-of-living salary increases aren't scheduled for the remainder of the fiscal year.
