Receiver Stallworth a surprise starter for Stanford
There weren’t many surprises on Stanford’s new football depth chart, but one of them was fifth-year senior Rollins Stallworth as a starting wide receiver.
Stallworth will make the first start of his college career when Stanford opens at Northwestern on Saturday.
Michael Rector, the usual starter at that position, was suspended for part of training camp for an undisclosed violation. Head coach David Shaw wouldn’t say Tuesday whether the suspension is the reason Rector won’t start, but said Rector will play in the game.
Stallworth has mainly been a scout-team player on the Farm. His one catch for the Cardinal was a 10-yard reception in last year’s game against Oregon State.
