1 Slain officer: Police officers from around the nation gathered Monday in Illinois to give a final salute to a fallen comrade killed in the small community of Fox Lake. As the visitation for police Lt. Charles Joseph Gliniewicz continued, swarms of law officers with badges wrapped in black mourning bands converged on Antioch Community High School. Gliniewicz, 52, had been on patrol last Tuesday when he radioed that he was responding to suspicious activity. His colleagues found him shot in a marshy area. No arrests have been made. Gliniewicz became a Fox Lake police officer in 1985.
